Our partner Simone Lahorgue Nunes spoke to Lexology about the upcoming EU adequacy decision regarding Brazil, which will enable the free flow of personal data from Europe to Brazil without additional safeguards.

Simone Lahorgue Nunes stated that the adequacy decision will “bring significant benefits” to Brazil, extending beyond the free flow of data from the EU. She highlighted advantages such as increased legal certainty for businesses, lower compliance costs, and “a more stable business environment between these two regions.”

She further emphasized that “the adequacy decision will serve as an international ‘seal of trust,’ positioning Brazil as a reliable partner in the global digital economy, strengthening the protection of citizens data, and fostering trade, investment, and technological innovation”.
